Project summary
A project that has shown that a solution can also start with education and communication instead of heavy (and costly) product changes.
Team
the UX core team:
user experience manager
myself (user experience design and analytics consultant)
a working student from Uppsala university
Main stakeholders:
all app product teams
engineering managers globally
Parallel Projects at Tetra Pak of lower scale:
AI agent behavioral framework
service desk user journey mapping
Core Result
a clear image of what needs to be improved in order to allow for an aligned app experience for engineers - that makes their lives easier not harder.
Who is using which apps and which features in per country
App super users per countrya clear user journey - what app should be used to do what in the engineers’ process; differe
Engineer user personas
The engineers work flow + what apps should support them when and how
Education material
A management group in each country to put education around fatures into place
A roadmap for management to coordinate product teams around merging apps/features as well as collaboration around features
The Problem
An unaligned app expereince for Tetra Pak engineers globally - all 6+ app product teams worked independently of each other and no synchs took place. A hypothesis was that this over-offering of apps rather let to making the engineers’ lives harder than what they were originally made for: making the engineers’ lives easier.
User Research and Discovery
Interviews
as-is: Engineering workflow (for different Engineering personas) + their app usage within the flow
Dataset + Dashboard
We also mapped out KPIs to meaaure the impact of our work for example how much time each of the steps takes with the current setup
Ideation and Wireframing
to-be: Engineering workflow (for different Engineering personas) + their app usage within the flow
Prototyping and Iteration
prototyped possible app features
Solution + Outcomes
a clear roadmap: how do we want engineers to use our app experience + strong stakeholder group to implement suggestions
we also mapped out clearly the value of the solution in terms of for example the KPI time saved
Outcomes and Learnings
The importance of include stakeholders in all steps of your journey esåecially in a large organisation such as tetar pak + the improtace of also knowing or finding the “indirect leaders” who can initiate change. Another outcome os that a first solution can lie in clarity and improve processes as well as eductaion and communication instead of initiating costly product changes.
